MAILING LISTS
Nike-interested
The Nike-interested e-mail list receives updates on the Nike campaign ing
Australia and internationally. These e-mails are sent out about once a month
(or occasionally more often if something particularly exciting happens) and
are only a few paragraphs long. Occasionally they will include requests for
help with campaign actions, but these are completely voluntary and joining
nike-interested does not put you under any obligation to respond.
You cannot mail directly to this list, but if you would like to get an
email to members of nike-interested you could email the message to the owner.
Nike-active
The Nike-active e-mail list receives updates on the Nike campaign ing
Australia and internationally. These emails are generally sent out at least
once a week (depending on how much is happening campaign-wise).
Occasionally they will include requests for help with campaign actions, but
these are completely voluntary and joining nike-active does not put you
under any obligation to respond.
Your email address will be kept private and can only be accessed by the
list administrator. You cannot mail directly to this list, but if you would
like to get an email to members of nike-active you could email the message to the owner.
Nike-international
People on the Nike-international e-mail list are either representatives
of NGOs or unions around the world working on the Nike campaign or else are
researchers who are working (or who have worked on) the issue of working
conditions in sportshoe factories. It is a "closed" list in the sense that
new members of the list must be approved by the list administrator. The
hope is that this will give groups involved in the campaign some freedom to
communicate with reasonable confidence that Nike representatives will not
be able to access the communication.
The list is set up for the sharing of research findings, for news of Nike's
responses to the international campaign, for the discussion of campaign
aims and campaign strategies and for the sharing of campaign successes and
failures. More general information (such as media articles which do not
give new insights or analysis) could be posted to more public Nike campaign
lists. A recommended example is justice-nike-1.
Members of the list can send mail to everyone on the nike-international
list by mailing to nike-international@sydney.caa.org.au
If you know of organisations or researchers who would benefit from being on
this list please ask them to send an email to timc@sydney.caa.org.au with
information about their organisation or their research.
