Pakistan LABOUR LAW SURVEY

3. Night Work for Women Workers
Women workers are not allowed to work between 7pm to 6am but with exemption, e.g. export-oriented factories could apply for exemption and normally they get it

4. Overtime Work for Women Workers
Under Factory Act and its amendment, no women can work after 7pm

6. Maternity Protection:

     6.1. Length of leave
     Permanent women workers can have 90 days of maternity leave

     6.2. Payment during leave
     Half or basic pay

     Employee Social Security Institute

     6.4. Any laws prohibiting employers from dismissing the pregnant women workers
     No pregnant women workers shall be terminated or retrenched during pregnancy

7. Comments on the Overall Implementation of the Labor Laws
- Many of the rights of women workers are not covered by the present labour law that is very discriminatory against women
- The implementation of the labour law is very poor because nearly all the legislators are feudal landlords and capitalists who just protect their own interests, instead of the workers, e.g. overtime work and night work stipulation, the employer can do what he wants by asking the provincial government to exept the factory. So practically women workers have to work until 10pm due to pressure of employer and growing unemployment rate and poverty
- Constitution states men and women have equal opportunity, but in reality, there are discrimination in every fields of lives
