The return of Levi's

Levi's, the jeans manufacturer, has announced that it will resume operations in China at the end of next year. Levi's had virtually ceased all production in China since 1993, citing their concerns about human rights. Today, the company believes that it can find local partners who respect their standards and ethics of production and that the human rights situation has improved. This decision comes at a time when the multinational has, for the first time in thirtheen years, seen a downturn in worldwide sales of 4%. Last November, the company announced the closing of 11 plants in the United States.
